Join us and discover the Polish Highlanders’ culture with a tour from Zakopane to the Pieniny mountain range, including traditional rafting experience through the wild beauty of the Dunajec River, winding between dramatic cliffs and dense forests, right on the border of Poland and Slovakia.

Travel down the river on traditional wooden rafts, guided by the flisacy, local highland rafters who preserve a centuries-old tradition that began in the 16th century. Back then, the rafts were used mainly to transport goods, but by the 19th century, rafting became a popular tourist attraction.

You’ll drift along the stunning Dunajec Gorge, where untouched nature meets charming little towns. Along the way, we’ll soak in the unique atmosphere and discover the beauty of Pieniny National Park.

The tour includes a stop at the lookout over the 14th century’s Gothic castle of Niedzica, also known as Dunajec Castle. You will have free time to explore one of the local Highlanders villages. Stop at lookout over the Magnificent Tatra Mountains and more.

More Information

The journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Zakopane or one of the surrounding villages. From there, we head south to the breathtaking Pieniny National Park.

The first stop is at the lookout over the 14th century’s Gothic castle of Niedzica, also known as Dunajec Castle. This place is one of the most picturesque locations in the area.

Next, the driver will take you down the Dunajec River, nestled in the heart of the Pieniny Mountains. There, you’ll meet the flisacy, local mountain rafters, who will lead the way on traditional wooden rafts. After a short briefing, you’ll begin a peaceful descent along the Dunajec, one of Poland’s most scenic and impressive rivers, flowing here between cliffs and thick forest.

As you follow the river’s winding path, you’ll pass ancient landmarks, glide beneath the towering Three Crowns Mountain, and float the breathtaking sections of Pieniny National Park, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot some wildlife.

Toward the end of the journey, the river picks up pace slightly and the landscape becomes even more striking. You’ll wrap up the rafting trip at a designated endpoint, where you’ll say goodbye to the rafting guide and meet again the driver that is waiting for you down the river.

Now it is the tine to continue exploring the area visit nearby village, sample local cuisine, or simply pause and take in the unforgettable Dunajec experience.

Before heading back to Zakopane, we’ll end the day with an amazing view point to watch the Tatra mountains from the distance. After a full day of adventure, nature and adventure, we begin our comfortable return drive to you will finish your day back at your hotel in Zakopane.
